Blogspot.in VS Wordpress.com - Which is better to use and Why (Pros and Cons)

This is the first question that comes  to every new blogger (newbie) -which one is better ( Blogger or Wordpress)??  First of all these two platform are free of cost. If you are searching to start a free blog then this is for you..If not , sorry this post will not help you.

There are many platforms  like BlogSpot, wordpress.com, weebly ,tumbler etc. available to create a free and paid version for a blog or a website.. The best platform that every” Pro blogger” will suggest you is “WORDPRESS”.But then people, who are new to this area, can start off with the free version if you are not that must interested in making money. So today’s post is all about the pros and cons of the free version of The famous Blogspot.in and Wordpress.com

BLOGSPOT.IN vs WORDPRESS.COM

BLOGSPOT.IN

It is a free version of Google product. Many newbie will have various questions about the advantages and disadvantage of using BlogSpot. So this post is all about the advantage and disadvantage of using

   PROS:

  • The first and foremost advantage is that it afree product of Google and thus you don’t have to pay for the hosting and also you don’t have to worry about your bandwidth or used space or anything else.
  •  It has most of the features available in it, and if you need to add what it doesn’t have, you can make use of the JavaScript and HTML to easily implement it into your blog.
  • It provides a Ground for Experience for those who are new to the world of blogging and it is hosted for free.
  • Also it is Easy to setup and updating you blog can also be done via your Gmail account itself.
  • And Google blogger puts in all efforts to provide many new features that would make the BlogSpot a wonderful place to learn and earn many new things and also about blogging as a career.
  • Also BlogSpot provides a wonderful feature of sharing your post in Hangout by default.
  • Highlighting a post is made easier than before.
CONS:
  • Since it is free of cost we don’t have full control, can’t always modify/customize the way we want our blog to be.
  • Loading of the page may be slow sometimes.
  • Might not look professional, because it doesn’t have a own domain name.
  • It takes a long time to get indexed by Google, and traffic also takes time as well.
  • Google has all rights to delete you blog. It can delete it anytime, mostly when we violate the rules of Google.
  • Difficult to add many plugins.

BEWARE: IF YOU DON’T BUY YOUR SELF DOMAIN, EVEN AFTER GETTING A BETTER PAGE RANK, GOOGLE CAN DELETE YOUR PAGE.
These are few PROS AND CONS that I felt are most important while starting your work on a free domain like BlogSpot. Whatever be the platform you use, try using them for free for few months and get your own domain and web hosting.
When we have our own domain name and web hosting, we don’t have to worry or be in panic about when Google will delete our account. So work on and get your own domain.

WORDPRESS:

Wordpress is another platform which offers both free and paid solution to start a blog or a website. Again, if you are a person who is not so much interested in making money and just wanted to share thoughts and works to the people , you can make use of Wordpress.com.
However, if you want to do more things with your blog such as make money, you can buy Wordpress and host it by yourself. So now let’s look at the PRONS and CONS of wordpress.com

PROS:
  • It’s a free and easy to use work on.
  • It’s free for up to 3GB of space.
  • You can upload few plugins but not everything.
  •             One of the best features in wordpress.com is that they make regular backups of your site

CONS:
  • You cannot upload your own Themes. But you can use the free available themes in wordpress. Even here you have both paid and free themes .Also you cannot modify these themes.
  • You cannot upload plugins. The real feature of wordpress is the ability to add many plugins .But in wordpress.com we don’t have that ability to customize and extend more functionality
  • Major drawback as that of blogger isthat, wordpress has all the rights tosuspend your account at any time without prior information.
  • Wordpress.com is just a free blog service platform i.e. it has not yet become a developed platform, and not the actual powerful CMS features that are the main reasons for the popularity i.e. you cannot do many features that are available in the self-hosted  Wordpress  blog.
  • You cannot run Google AdSense or other ads on wordpress.com blog. Thus you will have only limited earning profits.

Final words:
Before you start your work realize what you need to do with your blog. If you just wanted to post or share information to the people and not very interested in earning through it, then you can have the free blog platform, if not go to the self-hosted version. Hope this article was useful to you regarding the pros and cons of the free version of blogger and wordpress.
